And you're right about the recoiling. With the distance Wilson's arm goes after each shot, the initial velocity would be tremendous, decreasing exponentially. We we have it now, it just kinda launches back.

Though I wouldn't say the recoil was THAT overly exaggerated. You ever fired a handgun? I fired a magnum revolver once (I think it was a .22... I'll admit, I don't know guns except what I've fired) and those things can blast your hand back to your head if you're doing it one handed (not suggested).
