First of all....
This is Spacemen Belong in the Future, Probably.
Welcome.
In all honesty, I don't really know how we got so lucky. There must have been half a dozen other people trying to make this story, but Squid, Chase, and Wilson eventually decided to give us the rights.
When I first heard that they were going to make a movie about the Spacemen, I was thrilled, to be honest. I think it's taken WAY too long to get their story out. They were probably waiting till technology had advanced enough until the story could be told with any accuracy. Actually, technically, they didn't wait at all.
We had our interview a couple months ago with Wilson and Squid (Chase wasn't able to make it due to a legal issue regarding popsicle shipments). During the interview process, Squid asked us a few questions, namely, "What will you try to convey with this movie?" "Your story," I answered (I being Ian Hubert).
There was a long silence, and I got the feeling that they wanted us to say more, but then again, they're the spacemen, so for all I know it was just a tactic to try to make us feel uncomfortable, to see if we changed our answer. Quietly, Steve spoke up; "Chaos". I looked at him, slightly puzzled, but he nodded his head, "I want to tell, you know, the total chaos of your adventure!"
I was horrorstruck. He'd blown it. Totally blown it. No way would the spacemen let us tell their story, now that he said he just wanted to make some totally random, chaotic movie.
But I was wrong. Squid raised her eyebrows, and Wilson pretended to shoot me (I have no idea why, don't ask). "Right on," they said.
A couple weeks later, we got a call from Chase, asking if the form had come through in the mail yet. It hadn't, but it did the next day. He let us know that we'd been selected by all three of them, unanimously, to tell the story.
There are few moments in my life that were as exciting as that one. In fact, I can't think of a single one, off the top of my head. Maybe if I were married, that would be up there, but I haven't. And I've never had a baby.... getting born wasn't that exciting... yeah.
So here we are, a few months later. I haven't talked to the spacemen much, but they've dropped by a few times to check on progress, and give idle threats.
But we need to pick up the pace. We only have a few months until we all split up for college, so that'll be fun. 5 episodes, 4 months.... An episode every 2.8 weeks...
The Spacemen offered to give us more time, but I'm hoping we don't have to deal with the complications THAT would mean.
But yeah, this is the SBFP Message Board! Welcome! Make yourself at home! Not much here yet, but probably will be, possibly.
